His scent drifts into her nose a moment before he comes into the clearing himself, and she can't stop herself from growling. The Prince of Wales himself -- he smells of sweat and blood and fear and exertion.

Staying flat to the ground in this copse is no great trial; Kate has no wish at all to be Prince Hal's trophy.


It's a very popular clearing for staying out of the way of the battle, apparently. When John Falstaff hears running footsteps, he ever so carefully peers out from behind his tree.
